comments:

A space-time raster is a regular three or four dimensional structure with one of the dimensions defined as time. As with other rasters, the geometry of the grid is based on standardized increments in each dimension. Thus, time must be treated as consisting of a series of identically sized intervals. If the data or application at hand assumes that for each layer or volume time is fixed, but that the increments between each layer or volume are variable, the appropriate class to use is MultiTemporalRasterComposite, under SpatialTemporalComposite.
